Resident artist workshop is a 12 week residency program offering approximately 4-6 hours of free rehearsal space that culminates in a two night performance. Artists of all disciplines and sexual orientations are encouraged to apply,
SPF (summer performance festival) is The Garage’s annual performance festival, featuring both veteran and emerging artists. The festival features a series at ODC in August reflecting the broad spectrum of contemporary performance in the Bay Area.
In an effort to make it simple to apply for our programs, we ask for the following:
• a 25-50 word description of your project for 715bryant.org•
a 300 dpi photo and a 25-50 word biography
•a youtube link of your work
• a list of times you are available to rehearse usually Mon-Fri 10am, 12pm, 2pm & 4pm (usually 12 weeks for each performance and four hours per week)
Why is it so simple?
We don't want you to jump through hoops to make work at The Garage. Part of our philosophy is that your job is to make art, not to fill out forms. We usually book about six months into the future, so it's a good idea to plan ahead. Another suggestion for applying is to come down and introduce yourself and see a show. It's important to us that you know about what we do and that you propose a work that is appropriate for the space. We strongly encourage you to have a facebook page.
The Garage provides:
• Four hours of rehearsal space per week,
usually Monday-Friday 10am-6pm.
• Publicity and technical support
• A two night presentation.

PUBLICITY MATERIALS should be submitted 60 days before performances (this is the deadline for In Dance, Theatre Bay Area Magazine and local critics).
Publicity photos should be 300 dpi and approximately 4x6 in size. SAFEhouse enthusiastically promotes artists developing new work at The Garage but we are not able to send additional requests for publicity materials.
We also encourage artists to join FACEBOOK.COM and send us a friend request. Most Garage events are posted under events and artists should click the LIKE button to become administrators (this will allow you to add photos, descriptions and forward the event to your lists).
Most events are posted a month before the event. Tickets are normally sold at ticketfly.com for $15 (plus a surcharge for the purchaser). Cash tickets for most events can be purchased at the door for a sliding scale of $10-$20.
POSTCARDS are usually distributed a month before the performance. It's the artists responsibility to get cards from The Garage and distribute them.
PROGRAMS for the performances are usually designed the Monday before your performances. Again, The Garage is not able to send reminders to the artists to send program information, which should include biographies for the artistic collaborators. Unfortunately, we are not able to print biographies for dancers and actors.
WEBSITE… Photo should be 450 (or less) pixels wide. One or two info packed paragraphs would be ideal. Please include links to your website, YouTube, etc.
